Development of environmentally friendly products

We also focus on the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable products, such as Don Quijote's private brand (PB) "Jonetz" which is developed based on the concept of being "a people's brand created together with customers". In addition to responding to customer needs for environmental friendliness, such as reducing CO2 emissions and using recycled materials, we will contribute to solving environmental issues through product procurement.

With some canned fruits containing fruit juice, we also use irregular-sized fruits and trimmings from cut fruit as part of the juice, ensuring that every edible part of the fruit is utilized without waste.

The part between the skin and the flesh of sweet potatoes, released during the production of dried sweet potatoes, is rich in dietary fiber and polyphenols. This part is finely crushed, heated, and reformed to create the product.
Furthermore, the waste generated during this process is provided free of charge to pig farmers, contributing to circular agriculture by being used as compost.

We utilize Sweet Potatoes that were unable to be sold due to their size or shape.

In 2022, some of the packaging materials were changed from plastic to paper and biomass ink was used to make the product more environmentally friendly.
Because tea leaves are sensitive to moisture and light, it was not possible to use only paper for packaging, and a certain amount of plastic had to be used. Through trial and error, we were able to reduce the amount of plastic as much as possible while maintaining the quality of the tea leaves, resulting in a 57% reduction in plastic packaging.
There are not many tea leaves that use paper-marked packaging, and this is one of our pioneering efforts.

Part of the packaging material has been changed from plastic to paper. This sustainable packaging not only reduces the amount of plastic used, but also contributes to reducing environmental impact.

Uses lightweight bottles to reduce plastic by about 20% compared to conventional bottles.

These clear cups are made from used PET bottles as raw materials. Each clear cup contains 25% recycled PET bottles.
This contributes to resource recycling and reduction of the use of virgin plastic.

The 2x Fluffy Eco-Rolls from UNY's eco!on environmentally friendly PB product line is a toilet paper made of 100% recycled paper. The recycled paper is FSC certified (C141076), which certifies the use of recycled materials.
