UNY's efforts to reduce food waste
In recent years, food loss has become a major social problem in the global food situation, and the Food Loss Reduction Promotion Act has been formulated in Japan in 2019. UNY strives to reduce the food loss by managing the order quantity and cutting the price of products approching its best-by dates. Moreover, we are working on recycling food by composting the food leftovers such as vegetable waste and fish hail that come out when processing, and selling eco-vegetables grown using them.
In response to a request for cooperation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, we are working together with our customers to reduce food loss by posting an awareness poster at the Apita and Piago stores in October, which is the "Food Loss Reduction Month".
