Awarded for Plastic Reduction Efforts
Green Activites in Meijo Park "Flower Project"
UNY has been charging for plastic bags since 2007, and has donated a portion of its profits to local governments and other organizations. The city of Nagoya uses part of the proceeds to plant flowers in the city's flowerbeds with local residents. This year, we held an event called the "Sunflower Festival in Meijo Park" where we observed sunflowers that had grown to the height of children and picked the beautiful flowers that were in bloom. The seeds were harvested in October, and we plan to harvest them for the next year. As a member of the community, we will continue to work on microplastic issues and global warming prevention through activities regarding reduction of plastic bags.
