Toshiya Hatsuyama

Toshiya Hatsuyama is a Senior Executive Officer and Domestic Business Co-CMO(Co-Chief Merchandising Officer). He joined Don Quijote in 2002 because he sensed an opportunity in Don Quijote's promotional statement about being a meritocracy. Once he had joined, he felt strongly that the company really was a meritocracy, and "it wasn't just a pretty word!"
After joining the company, he became an area category leader for Sales Headquarters' Fourth (Food) Business Division in 2006. From 2011 he served as a project leader in Nagasakiya, and was also involved in projects overseas. He then became head of Fresh Food (Fresh 4 products) MD Development Headquarters in 2019, and concurrently took up the post of head of Food and Liquor (Processed Foods and Alcohol) MD Development Headquarters. Unusually within PPIH, his category experience lies entirely in food groups. He is meticulous about his work, thoroughly following our Corporate Principle of "The Customer Matters Most," and putting things together based on the idea of "the customers' happiness." When working, he strives to always trust his subordinates.
From July 2020, he has been in charge of the Domestic Food Division in his role as an executive officer and our chief merchandising officer (food), and serves as a director of Don Quijote Co., Ltd.

His favorite, most-quoted parts of The Source are Six Precepts of Our Management Philosophy no. 1 "We commit ourselves to doing business in a manner that is unselfish, 100% honest, and grounded in a strong sense of morality and purpose." and Ten Precepts Relating to Employee Mindset and Conduct no. 5: "Make others the subject of the sentence so you can talk from their perspective,"

He was born in Tokyo in 1980.
