Hitomi Ninomiya

Director and Executive Officer Hitomi Ninomiya studied design in university, and set herself the goal of becoming a store designer who can work around the world in the future. With this in mind, the catalyst for her interest in Don Quijote was her involvement in the Dotonbori store Ferris wheel design project. She thought that she would be able to achieve a wide range of designs, because Don Quijote creates spaces for entertainment that transcend the framework of commercial facilities and has many different business format packages--from complex-style stores to small stores--and so she entered our Design Division in 2005, and became responsible for store design. After this, she established the Design Strategy Division and the Space Design Division, before turning her efforts to the design field in PPIH. She has designed hundreds of stores, overseas and in Japan, and so has been able to fulfill her goal of becoming a store designer who can work around the world, which she set during her time as a student--because of this, Ms. Ninomiya says that PPIH is the best company for her.
She is always honing her sensitivity, and values her instincts and sense of when something is wrong, but always strives to state her opinions from an objective perspective. She takes a forward-looking approach: even if she doesn't understand the outcome of a discussion at the time, she keeps it in mind rather than forgetting it, then, when her perspective changes, she can grasp the reasons for this outcome, and is able to broaden her range of what is acceptable.
She says that being meticulous about her work means that she comes up with new ideas by looking at things from different angles, without being limited by precedent, and enjoys overcoming the challenges before her with creative solutions. Above all, she emphasizes that conveying her gratitude properly is the most vital thing in her work.
In terms of her personal life, she gave birth to a child in 2017. She is continuing to work at the same time as having a family and caring for her child, while also having women and foreign nationals as her subordinates in her role as a manager, and so she has come to carefully consider diversity and ways of working.
Her skills lie in design, which she has been dedicated to for 20 years, since she first started studying it in university.
She says that her goals for the future are to contribute to management through design and to add to our development as a company where a diverse next generation of employees can gain self-fulfillment by promoting diversity.

Her favorite, most-quoted parts of The Source are Ten Precepts Relating to Employee Mindset and Conduct no. 3 "Use your work on the floor to hone your insights, sensibility, and ability to be inspired." and Twelve Precepts on the Mindset of a Future Leader no.8: "Praising people means figuring out what they secretly take pride in, and recognizing it".
